This lav mic does an amazing job picking up your voice and includes a control box that allows you to switch it off, smartphone or camera mode. It has a -10dB switch which will dampen picking up sound so that background noise is removed but you also have to make sure the mic is closer to your mouth as it lowers all input sound and doesn’t just filter background noise. In my review of this lavalier microphone from MAONO you can hear me first start off with the default iPhone mic, then I switch to the Maono lapel mic with the microphone held right next to my mouth which is obviously too loud, so then I move it to my collar which is proper distance to hold the mic away from your mouth. The switch when off conserves battery but makes the mic not pick up anything, and I was unable to test camera mode with a Smart Phone it works very well. A lot of cord means it is ideal for when you are standing far from a tripod with a camera, but if you are just using a selfie stick and your phone it is a lot of cord to wrap and manage. Overall fantastic mic quality for the price, sounds as good as a USB condenser mic honestly.
