Merl tests the Aufero Portable Laser Engraver with a wooden board printing a chess set using LaserGRBL software. Ttake away from this run is I need to explore the settings more. The power scale and burn rate on the material is very much an art. My dark was TO dark and a lost a LOT of detail. As well I think I MIGHT have gotten more detail if I would have focused the laser better.
For example on the image I burned today I know that the low end setting was near spot on perfect. However, the high end was too high. This led to the image being ‘over exposed’ making it fuzzy and losing a LOT of detail. Additionally this engraver can run at 5,000 mm / minute and I was only running at 1,000 mm / minute. Maybe the improved speed would reduce the over exposure I don’t know I would have to test.
